Founded in 1997, American University of Sharjah (AUS) is an independent, non-profit, coeducational institution formed on the American model.
Acclaimed for its academic excellence, AUS is ranked among the top 10 universities in the Arab world and the world’s top 50 universities under 50 years of age. With approximately 90 nationalities represented on campus, AUS is among the world’s top three universities with the highest percentage of international students (Times Higher Education, 2021).
AUS offers 28 majors and 45 minors at the undergraduate level, 16 master’s degrees and three PhD programs through the College of Architecture, Art and Design; the College of Arts and Sciences; the College of Engineering; and the School of Business Administration.
The university’s 123-hectare campus includes learning, research and sports facilities, and student and faculty accommodation.
