Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) is the most prestigious public higher education institution in Hungary, operating continuously since 1635. Currently, almost 36,000 students study at nine faculties and an individual institute, with about 4,600 international students from over 100 countries. ELTE provides 50 Bachelor and 120 Master programs - and more than 100 degree programs in foreign languages. 77% of its teaching staff holds scientific qualifications, and 72 of them are academians.

ELTE is an internationally recognised higher education institution, and its programmes are accredited by the Hungarian Accreditation Board. Degrees issued by Eötvös Loránd University are acknowledged worldwide, and its course credits are transferable in all countries in the European Union. Eötvös Loránd University, and Hungarian higher education in general, have joined the Bologna Process.
Research work is a key part of university (which is not surprising for an institution that has five Nobel prize winners among its alumni). The university is the largest research institution in Hungary and among the largest ones in Central Europe.
ELTE students have lots of opportunities to study abroad. The university has partnership agreements with 590 higher education institutions (including Stanford University и Princeton University) from USA, UK, Canada, Australia and 70 more countries.
