The Knox School is a 6-12 co-educational day and boarding school in St. James, New York. The 48 acre campus is located on beautiful rolling hills on the water’s edge just an hour away from New York City. Founded in 1904 by Mary Alice Knox, The Knox School is home to many rich traditions and a dynamic community unlike any other. In the tradition of great, "small" secondary boarding and day schools, every child is known and welcomed with open arms.
Knox has always been a close-knit community, with alumni and students alike referring to it as their “Home Beside the Shore.” Every year Knox welcomes around 200 students and faculty from over 12 different countries to take part in the Knox experience. Our mission is to provide the opportunity for capable students to excel within a liberal arts program infused with artistic and athletic pursuits, in preparation for higher education at selective colleges and universities. We provide challenging, engaging programs in a nurturing learning environment, devoting care and attention to every student. There simply is no "back row" at Knox.
As a college preparatory school the students at Knox are challenged academically, athletically and artistically every day. From Advance Placement offerings, to outstanding Visual and Performing Arts, to a 5 level English as a Second Language program to Boost, the study support program, Knox caters to every child’s individual needs. Through personal college counseling beginning their sophomore year, our seniors enjoy 100% college acceptances to top ranked colleges and universities. At Knox we pride ourselves in preparing our students to be the future leaders of tomorrow.
