About NIIED

The National Institute for International Education (NIIED) is a government entity, which was first established as a Student Advisory Center in 1962 to support and solidify education and cultural identity for overseas Koreans and to enhance international exchange and cooperation. In 1992, its body expanded to the National Institute for International Education Development and has been providing various educational services.

Aims & Goal

• Provide education for overseas Koreans
• Administer the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) programs
• Activate the exchange of international education
• Select, support and manage overseas students
• Support overseas students in Korea
• Provide training programs for overseas Koreans and language teachers
• Develop and administer the Test of Proficiency in Korea and National English Ability Test
• Strengthen foreign language education in public schools through EPIK and TaLK
