UWC ISAK Japan, located in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, Japan, originated in 2014 as the International School of Asia, Karuizawa (ISAK). In 2017, it became the 17th member school of the United World Colleges (UWC) community, aligning with the shared mission of nurturing transformational leaders capable of enacting positive, enduring change.

The school's global student body, representing over 80 nations, underscores its international perspective. UWC ISAK Japan enrolls students aged 16 to 19 and offers the internationally recognized International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

Situated in the Japanese countryside, it provides an environment where future leaders from around the world unite with a shared commitment to advancing constructive global change. The picturesque campus combines traditional Japanese architecture with modern technology. The Kamiyama Academic Center (KAC) serves as the administrative hub, housing classrooms, a library, study spaces, and meeting facilities. The Asama building contains dining facilities and state-of-the-art science laboratories, while The Accord Center (TAC) serves as a versatile venue for gatherings, performances, and humanities education.

The school's Clubs & Activities program offers 30+ clubs, competitive sports, and student-led activities to empower students in pursuing their passions. Updated annually based on interest, it ensures students can explore and develop unique interests. Outdoor Education is a core part of the UWC ISAK Japan experience, with opportunities to join trips throughout the year, be it hiking, rock climbing our rafting in summer, or skiing, snowboarding or ice skating in winter.

UWC ISAK Japan also offer two-week Summer School and one-week Winter School short programs for younger students. These short programs aim to introduce students to UWC ISAK Japan’s unique approach to education, emphasizing creative and critical thinking, leadership, and diversity.
